Edinburgh sash & case double glazing
By Hermitage Windows
Sash and case double glazing can improve your home’s energy efficiency, reduce heating costs, add security and increase your property value.
We manufacture and install identical sashes with high performance, energy efficient double glazing into your existing case. This option fully complies with planning, local council and heritage requirements.
With a deep appreciation of Georgian and Victorian architecture spanning three generations, Hermitage Windows specialises in the art of historically authentic sash and case window restoration.
The Double Glazing process
During an upgrade, your original case will be completely restored, including new external sand mastic and upgraded pulley wheels. We also replace rotting or damaged timber to your case if required.
Once the new sashes are hung inside your case and operating smoothly, we install specially run parting beads and baton rods with draught-excluding brush strips. We also run the brush strip into the mid-rails, underside of the sashes and vertical styles.
All windows are available with a range of period ironmongery and can be finished in any RAL colour.
Trusted by clients across the country, we will work with you to upgrade your traditional sash and case windows and achieve high performance specification with double glazing.
We serve Scotland and the North of England from our Edinburgh office, Borders and Lothian workshops.
Protecting your property
During the process your carpets will be protected with Roll & Stroll carpet film and any hardwood surfaces covered with polypropylene sheets. We dust sheet the entire room and protect all surfaces. Our team will ensure all rubbish and debris is removed from site.
